Tempe Town Lake
|
|
This facility is one of my favorite places to visit in the valley. Located near downtown Tempe, many of this city's activities are held at this man-made lake that was once part of Salt River. Tempe Music Festival, the Tempe International Triathlon, AVP Pro-Beach Volleyball Tempe Open, the APS Fantasy of Lights outdoor, ice skating and electric light boat parade, Oktoberfest, July 4 celebration and Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Block Party are a few of the major events that bring more than 2 million visitors to this lake every year.

Young at Art

Young at Art is an art show for junior and senior high school students from the Mesa Public School district. This year's event is sponsored by General Dynamics and is held at the lobby of a local bank from April 10th to April 24th. My son, who is the artist in the family, is one of the selected students whose artwork is displayed for public viewing.

Fiesta at the mall
|
|
Of all the malls in the valley area, the mall closest to my home was the site for Canadian born singer, Avril Lavigne's free concert to promote her new CD, Under My Skin.
We picked up Adan from school and drove to the mall an hour early before the concert began. But from where we stood on the second floor it was impossible to get a glimpse of the singer. We ended up taking my son Aris to the mall's playground where her voice was still audible above the roar of the fans.

Mesa Southwest Museum
|

This is one fascinating trip for my son Aris who is crazy about dinosaurs . By luck we came at a time when the museum was showing one of the two life-size replicas of "A T-Rex Named Sue" exhibit that tours the country.
